August Apprentice of the Month - Skye Moffat

We are happy to announce that the winner of the LDN Apprentice of the Month is Skye @ Zoo Accounting & Business Solutions!

Since starting the Lvl3 Digital Marketing programme in June, Skye has had an incredible impact in her role and made great progress in her apprenticeship.

We received some awesome feedback from Skye’s line manager Becky Barrett as well as her Skills Coach, Dan alongside the other brilliant nominees, which you can read below!

Skye’s Skills Coach:

Skye works at Zoo Accounting and has started the apprenticeship with an incredible attitude. She has already made a huge impact at the company and feedback from her boss, Becky has been that she has been 'a breath of fresh air' and fits in perfectly.

Skye has already undertaken large projects including some for Birmingham City Football Club and has been keeping up with work, apprenticeship work and journals fantastically since day 1!

Skye’s Line Manager:

Energy:

Skye’s energy is infectious! She comes into the office with a smile on her face and is ready to hit the ground running, quite often bringing ideas from her free time into the office. She is managing many different projects, from corporate events & full social media campaigns to creating content for our website overhaul. Skye only recently joined the team and already it feels like she is part of the Zoo family.

Enthusiasm:

Skye has a thirst for knowledge and is always wanting to better herself, which we love. Alongside doing her apprenticeship, we are more then filling her days with our marketing requirements in house, and she is still making time to do off the job learning AND additional learning just for fun! I recently found out she was concerned about the coding module in the apprenticeship, so rather than go into it blind, she’s been doing a taster course in the evenings, so she has some basic knowledge. We love her enthusiasm for learning but her passion for Zoo Accounting is evident in her social media presence. If anyone is representing our brand, it’s Skye.

Willingness To Learn:

Skye isn’t afraid to learn, and as mentioned, she’s always looking for the next challenge. Her apprenticeship portal is always ahead of target, her in-house work is always waiting for approval in the agreed timeframe, and she isn’t ever scared to ask questions. Skye has full control of our social channels and constantly tweaking her content to improve the metrics. We have seen a 30% increase in engagement since Skye joined us, and that is due to sheer determination to learn and understand the complex (and somewhat ironic!) social media platforms.

Ability To Take Feedback:

We love Skye’s ability to take feedback – we often have short deadlines to meet, and Skye is unphased if we ask for an alternative version to be created. She notes our preferences, challenges us with new ideas and really is a super member of the team.

Propensity To Take Action:

Skye has been super creative in ways to improve our social media presence and will go over and above to drive the performance of our posts. She is our biggest ambassador online and will often create content in her own time – such as visiting Redditch United Football Club to photograph our promotional material during a match. We love her passion for Zoo and cannot fault her drive to succeed.

An example of an outstanding piece of work or task Skye has completed:

Skye created a video for Zoo to be used on Birmingham City Football Clubs’ TV channel in an afternoon, and even with our constantly evolving brief (due to a short deadline), she came back with alternative versions and wowed us with her skills. The end result is more than fantastic and it’s brilliant to be able to see it in the football stadium and on the app. Skye should be really proud of this and all of her content created for the Zoo/BCFC Partnership.

Our runner-up for this month is Level 3 Business Administrator Apprentice Annabel Rainbird! Annabel was nominated by her LDN Skills Coach, Mati, with feedback provided by her line manager at DK.

Annabel’s Skills Coach:

When Annabel started her apprenticeship, she was very shy, and she wasn’t sure what to expect but one thing Annabel shared with me was that she wanted to do her best in her role at DK and with her apprenticeship.

Annabel has gained so much confidence and has delivered a presentation on “how to fill your journals” and is leading conversations in our live sessions which encourage and informed her peers.

Annabel has taken ownership over her apprenticeship journey and her growth has been consistent. I know she’ll continue to progress well while on the apprenticeship.

Annabel’s line manager:

Annabel joined us in February and very quickly embedded herself into the team. She is a very positive person, which means she has a ‘can do’ attitude. It is lovely to be able to work alongside someone like Annabel.

Annabel is a fantastic planner and organiser, which means she structures her time to get the best out of each day. We have recently had three Traineeships join us and Annabel was instrumental in their onboarding and reaching out to them prior to their start date to ensure they had everything they needed and supported getting all their technology set up. This was something that she initiated herself and is a reflection on the type of person she is.

Annabel has a constant desire to learn more and is now working with the HR Executives on recruitment and payroll process including advertising, interviews, salary bands, benefits etc.

Here’s what was said about the other fantastic nominees:

Fred Harvey-Davies @ Warner Bros:

Fred slotted into the team as soon as he started with us, building great relationships with his direct colleagues and wider teams almost immediately. He has an infectious humour and is always very upbeat and exudes great energy, which makes him a pleasure to work with.

Hannah Clark @ Vision Path:

Hannah has been asked to take on new elements to her role as she has grown with us and has always done so willingly and with enthusiasm.

I look at a lot of Hannah’s design work and get really excited! Some of the feedback we’ve had on these from stakeholders on our programmes has been really pleasing. This has had a knock-on effect on the business meaning clients are happy, stakeholders are excited and it sets a tone of professionalism in what we deliver.

Thomas Walsh @ SEP2:

Tom brings great energy to the marketing team, he is fun and outgoing but always focused on the task at hand. He is always enthusiastic about any ideas we may come up with, and any projects we’re working on, big or small. Tom is a great example of a brilliant team member and exceeds our expectations every day.

Alice Lavender @ The Dispute Service:

From day one of being with us, Alice’s bubbly personality shone through earning her the admiration of her colleagues and many awards at various events for the biggest smile!

Alice came into the business as an apprentice a since then has developed within the company to her current role. Alice doesn’t just have her day job though, she is part of many groups including the Diversity Working Group, Fundraising Committee, and Events Organiser alongside myself.

Serhat Kara @ Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan:

Coming from very different working background, technology in general is new to Serhat. From learning mobile device remote management, to getting an understanding of computer network, Serhat has shown keen interest and willingness to enable himself to be more independent with helping out users.

Jack Doddy @ Asmodee Entertainment:

We’re all shocked to note that Jack has only been with us for 10 months. His rapid, capable responses to whatever task is passed to him has turned him an established, equal member of the team.

Jack is manifestly eager to learn, to take on board new skills, to become capable at everything - across editorial, translation, and audiobook partner support, and market. He’s managed to accommodate all these different types of activity with passion and dedication.
