Vanessa’s Skills Coach:

Vanessa has started her apprenticeship brilliantly, passing her Functional Skills exams at short notice and her Marketing Principles exam at the first attempt. She has also achieved her Google Analytics IQ certification, some 8 weeks ahead of schedule, and is up to date with her journal and online courses. She has demonstrated a real enthusiasm and drive to progress and develop since the beginning and fully deserves this nomination.

Vanessa’s Line Manager

Energy:

Vanessa throws herself into every task with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. She is keen to try new things and actively seeks out feedback from which to learn and improve. She has adapted well to working from home and has managed to integrate into the team well.

Enthusiasm:

Vanessa has been given the opportunity to work independently across social media, content and email marketing, adding her own flair to tasks while remaining consistent with Digital Catapult's tone of voice and brand guidelines. She is willing and enthusiastic about trying out new things.

Willingness To Learn:

Vanessa has been willing to learn a lot in a very short amount of time. Both how marketing at Digital Catapult works as well as how the company and its different departments function. Even if Vanessa hasn't worked on something before, she is happy to oversee how it works and learn how a particular task should be performed such as the building of newsletters, campaigns or the scheduling of our social media calendar..

Ability To Take Feedback:

With the regular check-ins with Vanessa and her Skills Coach we have been able to identify areas for improvement and areas of success. Once identified, Vanessa has worked on these points and feedback and has overcome any critique. She actively seeks out ways to improve and uses her initiative to perform tasks better each time.

Propensity To Take Action:

Vanessa has showed an understanding of how to prioritise work and competing tasks. When thrown into planning for a campaign at short notice, she was able to identify the most important tasks and communicate expectations.

Vanessa recently had to work on developing a marketing campaign for our Future Networks Lab Challenge innovation programme. She was able to utilise her research skills to define relevant partners for community engagement, to develop a comms social media partner pack, and email outreach. This activity was one of the most viewed web pages for Digital Catapult in January and her work played a huge contribution towards it.

Our runner up for this month is Corbin Vaughan at IBB Solicitors, who was nominated by IT Skills Coach, Aziz! With feedback provided by Corbin’s line manager, Jamie Leaphard.

Corbin’s Skills Coach:

Corbin has a good attendance record at work and for the workshops, on target with his project reports exams and reflective journals.

Corbin’s line manager:

Corbin is always happy to help and takes an interest in what others are doing within the firm. Corbin is responsible for logging all IT queries within the ticketing system; he does this with great enthusiasm. He ensures that all details have been entered just in case somebody else needs to refer back to the ticket at a later date or if the ticket will be passed to the next level.

Everyone in the firm has had to adapt to new ways of working. The IT department has played a massive part in this process. Corbin’s propensity during this period has been outstanding and demonstrates his dedication to the role and the firm.

He did a fantastic job; his contribution certainly benefited the business to continue to operate during the lockdown period.
