How We’re Tackling Climate Change – And Why It Matters

Adrian leads our B Corp initiatives with dedication and strategic insight. He has been instrumental in driving our sustainability efforts, ensuring that our values are reflected in every aspect of our operations. From embedding responsible practices across the business to preparing for our B Corp recertification in 2025, Adrian’s leadership has been key to maintaining our commitment to using business as a force for good. His passion for this mission is also reflected in his authorship of this blog, where he shares our journey, progress and aspirations for a more sustainable future.

As London Climate Action Week (LCAW) returns from 22–30 June 2025, LDN Apprenticeships is proud to stand alongside hundreds of organisations committed to turning climate ambition into tangible action. LCAW is more than a calendar event; it’s a rallying cry for businesses, communities, and individuals to accelerate the transition to a fairer, greener future. As a certified B Corporation, this mission resonates deeply with us - who we are and what we do.

At the heart of B Corp certification is a commitment to use business as a force for good. For us, that means embedding sustainability into every part of our business — from the way we travel, the suppliers we choose, how we engage with our local community and our homeworking practices.

What We’re Doing

We’ve taken deliberate steps to reduce our environmental footprint:

Carbon footprint tracking
We measure our carbon footprint annually using the Climate Essentials Carbon calculator. This tool gives us a clear, data-driven understanding of our emissions and helps us identify where we can improve. It’s a cornerstone of our carbon reduction strategy — ensuring our actions are not only ambitious but also accountable.

Homeworking
We’ve embraced hybrid and remote working not just for flexibility, but as a climate-conscious choice. By reducing daily commutes and supporting carbon reduction initiatives, we’re cutting emissions while empowering our people to work sustainably not only at our office but also at home.

Waste and recycling
We operate a robust waste management system that prioritises reduction, reuse, and recycling. We work closely with our waste management partner to ensure materials are properly sorted and recycled and utilise recycling stations throughout our office. We also encourage a low-waste culture among our team through our waste and recycling training.

Eco-conscious office practices
From energy-efficient lighting to our recycling policies, our office is designed to minimise impact and maximise awareness.

Green procurement
Where possible, we prioritise local, ethical suppliers who share our environmental values, helping to reduce emissions across our supply chain.

Why This Matters to Us

Our team is passionate about climate justice — not just as professionals, but as Londoners.

“I enjoy my cycle ride to work - it gives me space to think about my day and not only that, but it also keeps me fit and active. It’s the most environmentally friendly way for me to commute to work. LDN provides a secure space for me and fellow cyclists to store our bikes. This encourages me to cycle in knowing I have a safe place for it during the day. It’s great to see so many other colleagues cycling and walking when they can as well.”

Celia Kingston, Corporate Partnership Manager

“I’ve seen the company change, develop and become an even more incredible place to work. From the work we do within the local community to the support Skills Coaches are able to provide apprentices, it’s really rewarding working somewhere that makes a difference and impacts the lives of so many people.”

Geeta Bhatoa, Delivery Manager

Looking Ahead

2025 marks our B Corp recertification year, and we are currently awaiting the outcome of our assessment. While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we recognise there is still more to do. As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we are focused on further reducing our carbon emissions as we continue our journey toward Net Zero.

We’re also helping other businesses do the same through the LDN Sustainability Professional programme, an apprenticeship designed to build in-house sustainability capabilities across industries. By empowering professionals to lead sustainability initiatives in their own organisations, we’re extending our impact beyond our own footprint.

We warmly invite other businesses, whether B Corps or not, to join us in this mission. When we act collectively, we can transform ambition into meaningful action and create a more sustainable future for all.
