The LDN Data Fundamentals apprenticeship is designed to help organisations build internal data capability, equipping employees with the technical skills and confidence to collect, analyse and manage data effectively.

Through hands-on learning, apprentices develop the ability to use data responsibly and strategically, improving efficiency, supporting smarter decision-making, and unlocking new opportunities for innovation and growth.

Who is it for?

The LDN Data Fundamentals apprenticeship is ideal for employees who work with data in any capacity and want to build their confidence, capability and understanding. It supports existing team members who regularly handle information but have had little or no formal training, as well as those starting out in data-focused roles.

Content overview

  • The Data 101 unit builds a strong foundation in how data works in the modern workplace. Learners explore where data comes from, how organisations use it, and the essential concepts that turn raw inputs into reliable information. It sets the tone for confident, ethical and informed data use across any role.

  • The Connecting Data unit focuses on practical skills for accessing, extracting, combining and preparing data from real business systems. Learners handle multiple data formats, troubleshoot common issues, and develop the professional habits needed to produce clean, usable datasets.

  • The Data Quality unit teaches learners how to recognise, measure and improve data quality while ensuring compliance with GDPR, security standards and responsible data practice. It covers cleansing techniques, common data issues and how to protect the organisation from risk.

  • The Data in Action unit equips learners to analyse, explore and visualise data so they can extract insight that drives decisions. It also builds automation skills and introduces AI-enabled features that reduce manual effort and speed up analysis.

  • The Communicating Insight unit develops the communication skills needed to turn analysis into clear, persuasive stories that influence decisions. Learners practise writing reports, building dashboards, presenting insights, and tailoring messages to different audiences.

LDN’s curriculum consists of five core Learning Paths:

    To apply you’ll need to:

    • Prove your right to work in the UK
    • Be a UK citizen, or have lived in the UK of EEA continuously for the past 3 years
    • Be able to apply the learning to your role
    • Not have previously studied the course content
    • Not undertake any other government-funded qualification during your apprenticeship
