Working in collaboration with Greener NHS, the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and others, LDN Apprenticeships is proud to play its part in creating a sustainable healthcare system.

The LDN Sustainability Healthcare Academy has been built and designed specifically to enhance the skills and capability of NHS professionals who play a direct and active role in the success of NHS Green Plans and other sustainability initiatives.

A woman with long reddish hair and a beige trench coat looks surprised, a woman with curly dark hair and a blue shirt appears to be speaking, and a man with short hair and a gray sweater listens and gestures with his hand. Items on the table include notebooks, a water bottle, glasses, a thermos, and a coffee cup.

The National Health Service is a cornerstone of British society.

As health and wealth inequalities widen, its commitment to ensuring equitable healthcare access is as important now as it has ever been.

The escalating impacts of climate change and challenging social and environmental factors, mean that as the UK’s largest employer, the NHS has a responsibility to lead by example – and that is why the NHS became the first health system in the world to embed net zero into legislation.

About Our Programme

With the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner apprenticeship at its core, our programme provides a levy-funded route to professionalisation for those working in the health sector.

We have invested significantly in building a curriculum that is tailored for the sector – giving relevant and valuable NHS context to all elements of learning.

Through a cohort model, learners will benefit from collaborating with peers across the entire NHS ecosystem – brought together by industry expert skills coaches whose role is to guide each learner through to graduation and success. Learning units include:

  • A yellow spiral shape with a green circle at the end on a black background.

    Delivering on strategy

  • Pink hexagon outline on a black background.

    Project, change and culture management

  • Yellow circle logo with black background, resembling the letter 'O' or a donut shape.

    Stakeholder engagement

  • Green pie chart segment on a white background.

    Data analysis and storytelling

  • A bar chart with three vertical bars showing increasing values, each topped with a blue circle.

Evaluation - planning, preparing and publishing reports

  • A green curved shape resembling a smile or arc, a green circle inside the arc, and a smaller pink circle near the end of the arc.

Budgets, value for money and demonstrating ROI

Who is it for?

  • Pink outlined hexagon with a black interior on a black background.

Open to anyone working in the Health & Care system, the programme is suitable for entry-level or existing professionals alike.

  • A black background with a large yellow circle featuring a hollow center.

As an apprenticeship, the key requirement is that learners must have the opportunity to put the skills and knowledge that they learn into practice through their job role.

  • A green semicircular pie chart segment against a black background.

This vocational element is critical as it not only ensures learning success, but it also helps to bring about measurable and tangible impact.
