Working in collaboration with Greener NHS, the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and others, LDN Apprenticeships is proud to play its part in creating a sustainable healthcare system.

The LDN Sustainability Healthcare Academy has been built and designed specifically to enhance the skills and capability of NHS professionals who play a direct and active role in the success of NHS Green Plans and other sustainability initiatives.

The woman in the middle has curly hair and is wearing a light blue jacket, appearing to explain something. The man on the right has short hair and a beard, wearing a dark sweater, and is gesturing with his hand.

The National Health Service is a cornerstone of British society.

As health and wealth inequalities widen, its commitment to ensuring equitable healthcare access is as important now as it has ever been.

The escalating impacts of climate change and challenging social and environmental factors, mean that as the UK’s largest employer, the NHS has a responsibility to lead by example – and that is why the NHS became the first health system in the world to embed net zero into legislation.

About Our Programme

With the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner apprenticeship at its core, our programme provides a levy-funded route to professionalisation for those working in the health sector.

We have invested significantly in building a curriculum that is tailored for the sector – giving relevant and valuable NHS context to all elements of learning.

Through a cohort model, learners will benefit from collaborating with peers across the entire NHS ecosystem – brought together by industry expert skills coaches whose role is to guide each learner through to graduation and success. Learning units include:

  • A yellow snail with a green shell on a black background.

    Delivering on strategy

  • A red outline of a hexagon shape with a hollow center.

    Project, change and culture management

  • Yellow ring with white center on a transparent background.

    Stakeholder engagement

  • A pie chart with a single green segment on a black background.

    Data analysis and storytelling

  • Bar chart with three vertical yellow bars topped with blue circles, increasing in height from left to right.

Evaluation - planning, preparing and publishing reports

  • Abstract green and pink curved shapes forming a stylized smiling face.

Budgets, value for money and demonstrating ROI

Who is it for?

Open to anyone working in the Health & Care system, the programme is suitable for entry-level or existing professionals alike.

  • Yellow ring on a black background

As an apprenticeship, the key requirement is that learners must have the opportunity to put the skills and knowledge that they learn into practice through their job role.

  • A green pie chart segment with white space on a white background.

This vocational element is critical as it not only ensures learning success, but it also helps to bring about measurable and tangible impact.
