Launching in January 2027, the Wates Sustainability Academy has been designed to equip colleagues with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to drive meaningful sustainability outcomes across the business.

Delivered in partnership with LDN Apprenticeships, the Academy combines practical sustainability learning, professional coaching and work-based projects to help participants turn sustainability ambitions into measurable action.

Whether leading environmental initiatives, contributing to social impact programmes or championing change within teams, learners will develop the expertise needed to create lasting value for Wates.

Why the Academy?

As Wates continues to strive to become a net zero carbon operator, developing sustainability capability across the business has become a strategic priority.

The Academy will help participants to:

  • Build confidence in sustainability
    and ESG principles

  • Understand key concepts including carbon, net zero and sustainability reporting

  • Develop practical skills to influence and engage stakeholders

  • Deliver workplace projects that support business and customer objectives

  • Strengthen leadership and
    communication capabilities

  • Contribute to Wates’ sustainability ambitions and customer commitments

Who is the Academy for?

Existing colleagues within Wates can apply to join the programme.

We expect colleagues to come from a variety of roles, as the programme is designed to be broad and relevant across a range of teams. Learners will be supported throughout the programme to build their knowledge and apply their learning in a practical workplace context.
