June Apprentice of the Month

Ramala Khan

Information Communications Technician

We’re delighted to announce that Ramala Khan, Information Communications Technician apprentice at Profusion, is our LDN Apprentice of the Month for June!

Nominated by Skills Coach Anton Balzan, Ramala is an Information Communications Technician and has made an exceptional impact from the very start of her apprenticeship. She has quickly taken ownership of IT support operations, managing key systems and delivering high-quality support across the business, while consistently going above and beyond to support her team and improve day-to-day efficiency.

Explore all of our fantastic June nominations, along with Ramala’s winning submission and amazing feedback from her line manager, Ivan Despot, below 👇

Ramala’s Skills Coach:

From Ramala’s very first day at Profusion, she hit the ground running, demonstrating a hunger and drive to learn by taking on complex project work well outside her comfort zone. When Ramala submitted her first project proposal, it was clear she wanted to dive into areas that involved more than just the technical support she provides at the workplace, such as auditing complex data from scratch and overhauling the company’s entire security protocols and procedures.

Ramala consistently demonstrates excellent professionalism, both in the workplace and in her coaching sessions. She is always punctual for every coaching and group live session, takes notes when learning new concepts, asks thoughtful questions, and completes her journals and learning modules on Thinkific and Pluralsight within the set timescales.

Ramala’s line manager equally praises her for the outstanding work she does, and in our last discussion emphasized that Ramala goes above and beyond her role, providing oustanding support and delivering high-quality work across the team.

What makes Ramala's journey particularly inspiring is the transformation it represents. Through sheer determination and hard work, she has turned what once felt like an uncertain future into a bright and prosperous one. So inspired by her own transformation, Ramala decided to share her story with students at her college and former school, speaking openly about her journey and what it taught her. Her message to every student she meets is simple: it is never too late to change your story, so “do not surrender your career, but chase it."

Ramala’s line manager:

How has she improved/impacted the business and the team since she started her apprenticeship?

Since joining the apprenticeship, Ramala has made a measurable impact on both the team and the business. From the beginning, she showed enthusiasm for learning and quickly took on responsibilities with a proactive attitude. She has now fully taken ownership of the asset inventory and independently manages the IT Support tools and communication channels, becoming the main point of contact for support. In this role, she handles requests efficiently, keeps business as usual operations running smoothly and provides a warm welcome and helpful onboarding support to new joiners. Her willingness to learn, collaborative approach, and consistent delivery of good work have noticeably improved team efficiency and helped create a more supportive working environment.

What three words best describe her?

The three words that best describe Ramala are attentive, eager, and collaborative.

  • Attentive – Ramala is very detail-oriented, especially when managing the Jira support portal and asset inventory. She makes sure requests are handled accurately and nothing slips through the cracks.

  • Eager – She has a real appetite for learning and is always keen to take on new tasks. She has progressed quickly and actively contributes to building the team’s knowledge base.

  • Collaborative – Ramala works very well with others and is always ready to help. She has been particularly supportive with new joiners, making them feel welcome and helping them settle in smoothly.

An example of an outstanding piece of work, project or task she has worked on.

A strong example of Ramala’s contribution is how she has taken full ownership of the IT support role. She has effectively become the first point of contact for the wider company. By independently managing the support portal and asset inventory, she handles incoming requests with professionalism and efficiency. This has made daily operations much smoother and guarantees that new team members receive a friendly, high quality support experience from the start. Her proactive approach and reliability in this important area have significantly improved both support delivery and team integration.

Here’s what was said about the other brilliant nominees:

Rhea Hutchins @ MAPP

Rhea has been remarkably consistent from day one, showing initiative, commitment and drive to complete her coursework well ahead of schedule. She has integrated seamlessly into a large team, bringing genuine enthusiasm for the sustainability work at MAPP and quickly becoming instrumental in projects both internally and externally. This has included working across the sustainability team to build a library of client-facing case studies, as well as playing a crucial role in MAPP's ongoing GRESB delivery - reaching out to hundreds of occupiers to collect scope 3 data and demonstrating significant improvements in data analysis along the way. On top of all this, Rhea stepped up as an LDN Ambassador, presenting at the recent Behind the Scenes webinar to a highly successful but undeniably daunting audience. Grounded, proactive and always eager to develop - she is a true pleasure to coach.

Elizabeth Wilson @ University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

Elizabeth has demonstrated a fantastic amount of enthusiasm towards the apprenticeship from the moment I became her skills coach. Not once have I had to ask her to complete anything outstanding in Thinkific. She has demonstrated a high level of innovation when faced with the challenge of engaging learners around patient case studies. She described the use of Sway in order to provide QR codes to learners on slides. The QR codes then allowed learners to view complex case studies on their phones. This showed her consideration for the tools and technologies used and application of her apprenticeship knowledge within the working environment. This has promoted efficiency, sustainability and increased learners engagement.

Lucy Newall @ a British Media Company

From the moment Lucy joined the LDN Campaign Marketer programme, she has demonstrated an exceptional and unwavering work ethic, consistently delivering to a high standard with care, creativity and a genuine desire to produce her best first time. What sets her apart, however, is her curiosity - she never accepts the surface of a topic, but digs deeper, asks thoughtful questions and actively seeks to understand more. This has seen her grow rapidly as a marketer, translating new knowledge and skills into tangible, high-quality outputs that has impressed those around her. Lucy brings a can-do attitude and quiet confidence to everything she does, approaching her programme with genuine enthusiasm rather than obligation - embracing feedback, taking initiative and consistently going above and beyond. She is not just an outstanding apprentice; she is exactly the kind of talent our programme should be proud to celebrate.

Anastasija Ilgaca @ Amazon

Ana has shown herself to be an incredibly motivated individual since she started her apprenticeship last July. She tackled some initial challenges head on and is now an incredibly valued member of her team. Her attention to detail is shown consistently in the work she produces for her portfolio and her curiosity is evident in the questions she asks in her Progress Reviews and when she contacts me directly. She is very focussed on getting as much as she possibly can out of her time at Amazon and is driven to achieve the highest grade possible. Some recent feedback from her line manager: "Since starting her apprenticeship, Anastasija has significantly improved the operational efficiency of the Global ABM Practice Team's communications. Her work has reduced duplicate communications, improved stakeholder coordination, and given leadership confidence that our community engagement is well-managed."

Elisabeth Mitchell @ Surrey County Council

Libby has shown a noticeable growth in confidence since starting her apprenticeship, which has also been recognised by her line manager. She consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to development, actively seeking feedback and applying it to support both her professional and personal growth. This is clearly reflected in the quality and depth of her evidence pieces, which continue to improve. She is now confidently selecting and applying her knowledge, skills and behaviours independently, often stretching herself to meet Distinction criteria. Libby takes full ownership of her learning, arrives prepared for sessions, and has remained fully on track with her training plan since starting. Her dedication, proactive attitude, and continuous improvement truly set her apart.

Dawn Bailey @ Sinoist Books

Dawn works at a publisher that translates Chinese literature. As a result, she has had to master a series of very different tasks in a remarkably short time - she is a marketer, typesetter, administrator, event organiser and salesperson all rolled into one and from a standing start. Dawn has been amazingly resilient, been proactive in her learning, and even challenged herself by speaking Chinese at some events along the way! Naturally a quiet person, all of this has pushed her well outside of her comfort zone. After a spell of illness that got her off to a slow start on her apprenticeship work, she has determinedly put together a series of fine portfolio pieces, showing great understanding and an impressively sharp commercial awareness. Dawn has become a trusted and vital member of her small team – she’s been amazing!

Millie Maguire @ A&O Shearman

Working in a partnership law firm presents a steep learning curve, even for experienced hires - yet since starting her apprenticeship in October, Millie has excelled. As a Social Value Apprentice, she is leading high‑visibility global projects and managing senior stakeholders well beyond what her role would typically demand. Despite early nerves, she has developed strong presentation skills, delivering engaging sessions across programmes and events, even to Partners! Her manager Emma praises her proactive approach, ability to embrace feedback and outstanding progress. Passionate about social mobility and environmental sustainability, Millie channels that drive into meaningful, tangible impact for her organisation. Unflappable and enormously committed, her trajectory points clearly towards significant future leadership.
