Rebecca’s Skills Coach:
Rebecca’s impact has been exceptional since starting her apprenticeship. She has demonstrated commitment to excellence by winning Apprentice of the Year – Advanced at E.ON UK Apprentice and Skills Awards, showing significant value she brings to E.ON’s wider sustainability agenda.
Rebecca has strengthened her organisation's ESG controls, providing outstanding support to colleagues, and has been recognised with another award, the YES Award. Her contribution was instrumental in achieving 100% effective ESG controls, as confirmed by KPMG in 2025, a remarkable result.
Rebecca received her official Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certificate, which shows that she can use data‑driven tools to improve processes and solve problems.
Rebecca has stated that her apprenticeship work has boosted her confidence, helping her overcome imposter syndrome, pushing herself outside of her comfort zone and recognising her value in the organisation.
Beyond her core role, she consistently drives collaboration and innovation, offering practical solutions where her contributions are making a tangible impact. Her ability to influence, engage others, and elevate the collective output of her team makes her stand out as a truly exceptional apprentice.
While delivering substantial impact in her role, she has continued to apply herself wholeheartedly to her apprenticeship learning. She is consistently producing good-quality portfolio evidence, demonstrating both her capability and her commitment to her professional development.

An example of an outstanding piece of work, project or task they have worked on.
One of Rebecca’s standout achievements this past year was proactively completing both the Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt qualifications. She has already begun applying this knowledge in her day-to-day work, using structured problem-solving and data-driven thinking to improve business processes and efficiency.
Here’s what was said about the other brilliant nominees:
Theodore Carter @ Volker Fitzpatrick
Theodore is an exceptional apprentice whose resilience, integrity, and consistent commitment could set a new benchmark for a can-do learner's mindset. Despite navigating complex learning needs and significant personal challenges, he has consistently delivered excellent academic work. A natural leader, Theodore inspires peers by stepping forward first, sharing his knowledge with confidence, and championing sustainability in every task. Though once behind with his portfolio, he demonstrated extraordinary determination, working tirelessly to produce an exceptional submission for EPA. Theodore’s growth, determination, and positive influence embody the very spirit of apprenticeship success, making him a truly standout nominee.
(Additional feedback from Martin - I met Theodore in one of my first weeks here at LDN, on an EPA preparation session. He impressed me with responses to questions asked in a 'mock interview' scenario in front of his peers. He was a little behind with his portfolio and preparation for EPA, but has worked extremely hard recently to submit his portfolio on time, which was written to an excellent standard. Theodore has shown resilience and determination throughout his apprenticeship, making excellent progress.)
Zainah Hussain @ Pan Macmillan
Zainah is performing exceptionally well. She is impressing colleagues so much – I am hearing ‘Zainah is incredible’ and ‘We love having you’! Zainah is learning to rotate teams, picking up experience along the way and bonding quickly with new colleagues. She comes to the role as a non-grad in very much a graduate environment. She is someone not used to putting herself out there, and yet she has featured, despite reservations, in various video campaigns on social media and loved it! Zainah is a curious and enthusiastic apprentice, who is eager to overcome all challenges to deliver her very best.
Samantha Tapscott-Roberts @ Mid Cheshire Hospitals
Samantha stands out as an exceptional apprentice whose passion for sustainability has shaped every aspect of her learning journey. When she began the Sustainable Healthcare apprenticeship, she was unsure how she would meet the criteria. However, she approached every challenge with enthusiasm, determination, and a willingness to step outside her comfort zone. The transformation in her confidence has been remarkable.
In one of our live sessions, Samantha delivered a presentation about a sustainable event she had organised. She sourced prizes locally, encouraged participants to share “joyful places,” and created an inclusive community‑focused activity. The event was a huge success and her presentation inspired other learners to think more creatively about fundraising, engagement, and sustainable event planning.
Samantha is now actively involved in sustainability cohorts within her Trust and regularly participates in consultations, sharing ideas and supporting wider initiatives. Her drive is infectious, and she consistently demonstrates how apprentices can turn uncertainty into action and influence meaningful change across healthcare.
What truly sets Samantha apart is her innovation and her ability to think beyond traditional boundaries. Her passion for sustainability extends far beyond her role in the NHS, she genuinely believes in sustainability as a way to improve quality of life for everyone.
A perfect example of this is her response to an inspirational video she saw about turning crisp packets into sleeping bags for homeless individuals. What began as a small idea snowballed quickly:
She started by collecting crisp packets to donate to someone already making the sleeping bags.
She then taught herself to make them independently.
The volume of donations grew rapidly, far beyond what she expected.
Volunteers from across her Trust, her sustainability team, and even external organisations began offering their time, space, and resources to help.
This initiative has grown so significantly that it may soon become a registered charity. Samantha is now at a point where she may need to hand the project over to a formal charity structure to continue its incredible impact. Witnessing Samantha map out this vision, then actually make it a reality, has been inspiring beyond words.
Samantha’s influence doesn’t stop there. She actively encourages colleagues to join sustainability‑focused training, including the sustainability apprenticeship itself, helping them increase their awareness, skills, and confidence. She uplifts everyone around her and fosters a culture of environmental responsibility within her workplace.
I believe Samantha embodies everything an Apprentice of the Month should be.
Charlotte Wagstaff @ Step Change
Charlotte has performed fantastically, both in her apprenticeship and within her job role (so much so that her manager also requested she be nominated for AOTM).
Throughout her apprenticeship, Charlotte has submitted everything asked of her on time, every time, and always to a high standard of detail. She has shown genuine care in her work, striving for it to be the best it can be while also producing meaningful results for her role.
Throughout her time on the programme, Charlotte has pushed herself to achieve more than she ever thought possible. In both her job and her apprenticeship, she has brought a real sense of creative thinking and innovation. From the charity’s point of view, she has consistently applied her learning to her role, resulting in tangible outcomes that have positively supported individuals with debt management.
But don’t just take my word for it, or even her manager’s; Charlotte recently won the internal Iain Kendall quarterly employee award, voted for by key stakeholders and peers in recognition of her hard work. It doesn’t end there. Charlotte wrote and coordinated an award entry for her entire team in a nationally recognised insolvency-related ceremony. The entry gained significant attention, securing an invite to the ceremony after being shortlisted for the award.
During her recent annual review, Charlotte received a rare and well‑deserved ‘outperforming’ rating, and I think that sums up everything you need to know about her, the way she works, and the work she puts out into the world.
Jeneil McDonald @ Westminster City Council
As Jeneil approaches the end of her apprenticeship, this feels like the perfect moment to recognise the remarkable journey she has been on since joining the Community Engagement Academy in October 2024. Her positivity, curiosity, and commitment to her development have been evident from the start. Even while balancing a busy workload, she consistently brought energy and enthusiasm to Masterclasses and submitted work of a remarkably high standard.
Since entering gateway, Jeneil’s dedication has only grown. She began preparing for her professional discussion immediately and has made an impressive start on her project, showing real drive and belief in her abilities.
Jeneil’s recent, well‑deserved promotion reflects how fully she embraces her learning, she applies it thoughtfully, calmly, and with purpose. Early in the programme, Jeneil even requested a Live Session on ‘survey questions’, eager to stretch herself and instantly applying the learning to her role and create impact for stakeholders. Jeneil truly embodies what it means to be an engaged, self‑driven apprentice and fully deserves this recognition.
Mia Brown @ Amazon
Mia has made considerable impact already in her role at Amazon and she shows curiosity and dedication to her apprenticeship work as well. She is confident and very able, she ensures that her training plan and portfolio pieces are up to date and of great quality.
Some recent feedback from her manager describe Mia as being:
High-Quality: Mia consistently delivers thoughtful, well-considered work with strong attention to detail. Whether it’s planning, asset creation, or written communications, her output is polished and accurate. She takes pride in getting things right first time and demonstrates care in both the thinking and execution behind her work.
Resilient: - Despite beginning her apprenticeship during a period of restructuring, Mia has demonstrated exceptional determination and professionalism. She adapts quickly to change, takes feedback constructively, and continues to build confidence in challenging or ambiguous situations. She approaches new or complex tasks with composure and a solution-focused mindset
Proactive – Mia actively looks for opportunities to add value rather than waiting for direction. She volunteers for responsibilities, takes ownership of projects, and steps up to support wider team objectives. Her initiative and flexibility make her remarkably effective and dependable at this early stage of her career.
